I would happily pay a membership charge for the club. With all the advice and help available on here it would be well worth it. After all, where else would you have people willing to ride from one end of the country to the other to help somebody regain confidence or help rebuild their bike .... both of which have happened in this club in the past year.---
Yorkshire Chapter Rep.
Keep your eyes peeled for rides out in the area.
Iam not against paying a fee for this great site but is it not a bit much to go from nothing to £10 maybe £5 is a better starting point
i have been using this site for over a year now and have made a couple of contributions but have not made one towards running costs of site it is one of those things we forget about but was just thinking about it for £10 a year, what do i get well i get a bunch of guys i have to think of as mates who i seem to see more than old mates in next town along from me.
in first full year of owning a jinnie i would if one was available bought a haynes manual @ £18 - £20 but instead every job i have had to do i have got any tech info i needed when i have come accross a problem someone has advised me of potential causes so have had never had to put bike in garage or have it off road while try to figure out what is wrong. also with a manual you can only read it but on here you can ask almost any question and generally you will get an answer.
i have also got out and about a little meeting new faces i have had so far meets at - skeggness x2 , rallies x1 ( 2 more this year), meet at southend, meet for weekend at squires , meet at ace cafe and visit bike museum , national bike museum at birmingham, Party at members house, and missed a few as well through work etc.
you dont get that many outings at your local club and can say hand on heart never have i attended a meet where there been a problem or an arguement atmosphere is always good.
the cornerstone to this is the forum if we dont get into place a structure to make sure bills are met then we could lose more than an information site

Get your southern rally tickets in and get your time off work.
11/12 october 2008 come on in it gonna be a whole load of fun
£10 yearly membership charge is nothing! I'll gladly pay it support the cause! Let me know if you need donations.
I dont think that it is a good idea to charge £10 yearly fee becuse with th erecant credit crunch people are getting straped for cash as it is, and jinny members dont really want to have more added to the endless list of money problems, I love my jinny but if a fee was fixed to talk to other members then i wouldnt pay it because why pay to talk to members whe you can enjoy the ride an dand meet you with them
Good Idea and would be happy to pay.
I would no more pay a forum entrance fee than I would pay to enter a shop.
The imposition of an entry tax is no way to run a forum. Income generation must be derived from advertising and sales revenues, fund raising intiatives and other novel initiatives. Revenue stream is the real measure of a forums success, not how many people it can enlist - most of whom are seemingly never heard from again.
This is the challenge for the site owners/administrators. It requires leadership and inovation, not an onerous burden to be bourne by the membership from want of making things happen.
Just worked out the cost of all the avice I have needed and at garage rates would of been around £200 and had the bike off the road for upto a week. By paying the membership it was all sorted by help from members of this site done by me in hours and the bike was never off the road.
Whereever you join a club you pay membership we do at my Cricket club and also football.
The forum is free its upto others if they need the more detailed stuff so its really a straight choice.
I really don't regret saving myself money for the minimal cost of this site and the hard work and effort the admins and others put in to keep it going.
All I say is thanks to everyone.
Hello i would just like to say it is great to have a club like this with all the info and members who no there stuff about jinnys ! ! and £10.00 to join the club is nothing i pay £25.00 a month for my son to play football at his club ! i no i am only a new member but what i have learned in the last few months is that this is a great club and i am hopiing in the new year to join in on all of the events and try to support the club ! ! so for all you tight arses out there who don't to pay its only £10.00 Thankyou
Personally I wouldn't pay the £10 charge. For me my Jinlun was the bike that I bought to learn to ride on. I loved it, but recently sold it as I now have a bigger bike. I would like to still have a look at the site once in a while and see what's going on, but as I no longer have my Jinlun, there would be no real point in paying the membership fee.
Have you thought about trying to create more revenue from adverts/google ads etc?
